How to use a dialogue prompt

Decide who speaks first and what they want from the other person. The same line reads as flirting, a threat or a confession depending on that one choice.

Start the scene a beat before the line and end it a beat after the reply. The dialogue generator can then draft the full exchange in your characters' voices.

Want endless combinations instead of a list? The fanfic prompt generator mixes situations, settings and twists, and the AI fanfic generator drafts any prompt into a scene.

Questions writers ask

What are dialogue prompts?

Dialogue prompts are lines or short exchanges, often shared out of context on Tumblr, that a writer builds a scene around. Readers often send them as asks with a ship attached.

Can I change the wording?

Yes. Treat the line as a starting point; adjusting it to your character's voice is part of the exercise.

Can AI turn a dialogue prompt into a scene?

Press Write on any line to send it to the fanfic generator, or use the dialogue generator for a dialogue-only scene between your characters.
