Questions writers ask
What makes a good fanfic title?
Something short, evocative and searchable that hints at the mood rather than summarising the plot. Song lyrics, a line of dialogue from the fic, a single image or a structural format ("five times…") are all common on AO3.
Can I use song lyrics as a fic title?
Short lyric fragments as titles are a long AO3 tradition and generally treated as fine; quoting long passages of lyrics inside the fic is a different matter. Crediting the song in your notes is good etiquette.
How does the AI title generator work?
Paste your summary and characters. The AI suggests ten titles in different styles — lyric-like, one-word, quote-style, pun and "five times" — each with a short reason it fits.
Should the title match the summary?
They work as a pair: the title sets the mood, the summary gives the hook. Avoid repeating the same words in both.
