AI Fanfic Generator
Type a fandom and a ship, press Write my fic, and a complete scene streams in within seconds — free, no sign-up, ready to continue chapter by chapter and paste into AO3.
Fill in at least a fandom, characters or a premise, then press Write my fic. Drafts stream in as they are written, usually within a few seconds.
Where the words go in a fic
Most satisfying fics — a 500-word drabble or a 100k slow burn — share the same shape. These proportions come from Blake Snyder's Save the Cat beat sheet, a tidier version of classic three-act structure. Pick a length and step through it.

Words 0–150 · about 150 words
Show the characters as they are before anything changes. One concrete, sensory moment — not a summary of canon.
The takeaway: the catalyst belongs in the first tenth. A 1,500-word one-shot that spends 400 words on backstory has already lost the reader it promised a trope to.
How to get a draft worth keeping
An AI draft is only as specific as what you give it. Three habits make the difference between a generic scene and one that sounds like your fandom:
- Name one concrete moment. "Hurt/comfort" is a genre; "she patches up his hand in the kitchen after the fight in chapter 12" is a scene.
- Give each character a verb. Who wants something, and who is avoiding it? Tension comes from mismatched goals, not adjectives.
- Treat the output as a first draft. Keep the lines that ring true, cut the rest, and rewrite in your own voice. The beat stepper above tells you where each piece should sit.
Structure is easier to grasp once you can move it, which is why ahaboo builds guided explainers you work with directly, like watching how the Moon's light changes. Once the shape is clear, pick a premise from the prompt generator, name your ship on the ship name generator, and use the AO3 formatter when you're ready to post.
What happens to your prompt
Your fandom, characters and premise are sent to a language model through Vercel's AI Gateway, which writes the scene and streams it back. FanficCraft doesn't store prompts or results on a server. Save anything you like to your Library — it lives in this browser only.

Questions writers ask
Is the AI fanfic generator really free?
Yes. There is no account, no credit system and no paywall. To keep it free for everyone there is a fair-use limit of 20 AI generations per 10 minutes per visitor.
Which fandoms does it know?
Any fandom with enough public discussion — anime, games, books, TV, K-pop RPF-adjacent settings, you name it. For small or very new fandoms, add a line about each character in the premise box so the draft doesn't guess.
Can I post the result on AO3?
AO3's Terms of Service do not ban AI-assisted works, but many writers and readers care. The considerate approach is to use the draft as a starting point, rewrite it in your own voice, and tag honestly (for example with an "AI-Assisted" additional tag) if substantial generated text remains.
What ratings can it write?
General Audiences and Teen And Up Audiences. It won't write explicit (E-rated) content or romance involving minors.
Is my story saved anywhere?
Only if you press Save, and then only in your own browser's local storage (your Library). Nothing is stored on our servers; prompts are sent to the AI model to generate the reply and are not kept by FanficCraft.
Can it write a long or multi-chapter fic?
Yes, in parts. Generate the opening (up to about 1,600 words), then press Continue the story as many times as you like. Each continuation reads the end of what you have and keeps the same voice, POV and tense, so you can build a multi-part fic and copy it out as one piece.
Can I write x reader / Y/N fics?
Yes. Choose "Second person / reader-insert" as the point of view and put the character plus "Reader" or "Y/N" in the characters box. The story is written to "you" and tagged Reader-Insert.
Does it support AUs and tropes?
Pick up to three tropes (enemies to lovers, fake dating, coffee shop AU and more) and they are woven into the draft. For more settings, the AU generator suggests roles for both characters and sends the idea straight to this page.
Who owns the fic I generate?
FanficCraft claims no rights to anything you generate. Fanfiction itself is transformative work built on someone else's characters, so the usual fandom norms apply: non-commercial, credit the source, and tag honestly.
What is the best free AI fanfiction maker?
Look for three things: no sign-up or credit wall, controls for fandom, ship, tropes and rating, and a way to keep going past the first scene. FanficCraft has all three, plus AO3-ready HTML and a local library — and you can press Write without filling anything in to get a surprise fic.
Why does the draft sometimes get canon details wrong?
Language models blend what they have read, so they can mix up timelines or minor facts. Treat it like a beta reader who has only skimmed the wiki: good for momentum, not for canon accuracy.
